Green Building
Featured Green Project
The project featured on this page - in the Willow Glen area of San Jose, Ca. - was the first mindfully built green home in our collection. Green improvements in the home include:
- During the construction phase special attention was paid to conserving resources through salvage and recycling practices.
- The use of certified sustainable harvested lumber, engineered wood products, and recycled content materials in the construction of this custom home relieves logging pressure on old growth forests and reduces material use and construction waste.
- Efficient plumbing, including a tank-less on demand hot water system ,light bulbs, ceiling fans, all electrical appliances and all kitchen appliances, all combined saves water, electricity, and money.
- Energy efficient windows and advanced insulation techniques will lower the owner's utility costs and create a more comfortable home.
- Installed in this unique home were renewable energy sources, such as the use of Solar Electricity and durable roofing materials that reduce the replacement costs and the related impact on landfills.
- The builder also used low or no VOC paints, finishes and materials with reduced formaldehyde which can improve indoor air quality for the installer and its residents.
